Kidney Failure

Kidney Failure *** Reversal Without A Transplant

Kidney Failure: This website cannot give you the full and proper information on kidney disease or kidney failure. The best place to get medical information on kidney failure would be with a nephrologist. The second best place to look for the big picture on kidney failure would be with "The National Kidney Foundation" or any of the seperate state affilliates. I would recommend the following for complete information on the current treatments Western Medicine provides. Please click on either of the following links to take you to their websites.

National Kidney Foundation

My kidneys failed with IgA nephropathy, aka, glomerulonephritis or burgers disease. They progressed to end stage renal disease, and I was put on hemodialysis when they reached 18% function. The following is what I learned about kidney disease while my kidneys were not functioning.

Healthy kidneys accomplish the following:
  • Remove extra water from the blood.
  • Remove waste products (chemicals).
  • Balance chemicals in the body.
  • Help control blood pressure.
  • Help make red blood cells.
  • Help build strong bones.
What happens when kidneys fail?
  • The kidneys are not able to clean waste products from the blood.
  • Waste products build up in the blood and cause you to feel horribly sick.
  • This build up of waste products is called "uremia."
  • Without treatment (dialysis), you will die in a few weeks.

When kidneys fail to the point of end stage renal disease (ESRD), and you are put on dialysis treatments, you are told by your nephrologist that your kidneys will never recover and the only way you will come off dialysis is with a kidney transplant -- If you are eligible.

This web site will explore that statement and explain why it is not a true statement.
You will learn that I recovered from total kidney failure. I will try to explain some of the reasons I believe my miracle happened. I was not eligible for a kidney transplant and I did not have one, but the kidneys I was born with, the ones the doctors told me would never get better, did just that. I am not bitter toward my doctor, if fact he was a major part in why my kidneys did recover. I don't believe I would be alive today without his treating me exactly the way he did. My nephrologist's name was Dr. Lawrence W. Elzinga, and I have the utmost respect for his skills as an nephrologist.

I believe it had something to do with the detail in following dialysis procedures, food intake, and lifestyle I maintained. I also place suspicion on a finding I discovered when I learned Chinese Medicine has treated kidney problems for the past 3,000 years with vinegar. I made the connection that during the entire nine months I was on dialysis, I soaked in the bathtub every night with one tablespoonful of "white distilled vinegar" in the bath water.

Like I say, this website will look at all the things I did, and hope someone can see something I did that others can do to have their kidneys recover from IgAN without a transplant.

Note: If someone decides to soak with vinegar in their bath water, please tell your doctor - you could be allergic to vinegar, and if by some miracle it helps you recover from kidney failure in anyway - Let your doctor know and I'd like to learn about it.
